Smells Like A New Car To Me

The Best Ways To Keep Your Car Smelling Like New Your Car

The smell of a new car is one of the best things in the world. It's like getting a fresh start, every time you get in. But what can you do to make sure your car smells like new for as long as possible? Here are four tips that will help keep your car smelling great.

1. Don't leave food in your car.

This one seems like a no-brainer, but it's worth repeating. Whenever you eat in your car, be sure to throw away any wrappers or leftover food. Otherwise, you're just inviting critters and bacteria to come in and make themselves at home.

2. Vacuum the seats and carpets often

Even if you don't eat in your car, dirt and dust can build up on the seats and carpets. Vacuuming regularly will help to remove these particles and keep your car smelling fresh.

3. Use a fabric freshener to keep the upholstery smelling good

There are a variety of fabric fresheners on the market, both in spray and gel form. These can help to keep the upholstery in your car smelling pleasant.

4. Spray a deodorizer in the car every week or so to keep it smelling fresh.

There are products that are designed to produce the new car smell. These can be found at most auto parts stores and can help keep your car smelling like new.

These are just the basics, but to really get rid of tough odors like smoke, it's going to take a bit more work. Deodorizers and fabric sprays may temporarily cover up smells, but they don’t actually remove them. If you’re looking for a more long-term solution, try an ozone generator.

An ozone generator can also be used to remove smoke odors from your car. They work by producing ozone molecules which attach to and break down the particles that cause odors. Ozone generators can be purchased online or at some home improvement stores.

Always Lock Your Doors

This seems like common sense but you'd be surprised how many people don't do it. Always make sure to lock your doors, even if you're just running into the store for a quick errand. And don't leave your keys in the ignition - no matter how tempting it may be on a hot day.

Don't Leave Spare Keys In The Car

Another common mistake is leaving a spare key hidden in the car. This may seem like a good idea at the time, but it's just asking for trouble. If a thief finds your spare key, they now have easy access to your vehicle.

Install A Tracking Device With A Remote Kill Switch

If you're really concerned about your car being stolen, you can install a tracking device with a remote kill switch. This will allow you to track the location of your car if it's stolen, and even disable it if necessary. Typically they come with an app that you can use to track the location of your vehicle. Then remotely disable the car and notify the authorities who will then be able to apprehend the thief and return your vehicle.

Consider A Wheel Lock

A wheel lock is another good idea if you're worried about your car being stolen. This is a device that attaches to your wheel and makes it very difficult for a thief to drive away with your car. They're not 100% effective, but they can be a good deterrent.

Park In Well Lit Areas

Whenever possible, try to park in well lit areas and never leave packages or valuables in plain sight. Thieves often seek out easy targets of opportunity, so the less tempting your car is, the better. Although not full proof, putting valuables in the trunk is also a good i

Emergency Roadside Kits - A Friend When You Need One

That's where emergency roadside kits come in. A good roadside kit can help you get out of a bind, no matter what kind of trouble you find yourself in. Whether you're on a road trip or just driving to work, it's important to have all of the supplies you need in case of an emergency.

It's not just you who will benefit from an emergency roadside kit. if you ever have to help another driver who is stranded, you'll be glad you have a kit to lend them. They will appreciate the fact that you were prepared and able to help them in their time of need.

What should you include in your emergency roadside kit?

  • Flashlight, flares, and reflective triangles will help other motorists see your car

  • A first aid kit is an essential part of any emergency roadside kit. Be sure to include items such as bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers. Check for expiration dates on your supplies periodically.

  • Jumper cables. One of the best options is a self contained jump box that doesn't require another car. They typically contain charging cables for phones and other small electronics, too.

Essential Maintenance Tips for Keeping Your Used

Introduction: Owning a used car can be a practical and cost-effective choice, but proper maintenance is key to ensure its longevity and performance. Regular upkeep not only helps you avoid costly repairs down the road but also maximizes your vehicle's reliability and safety. In this blog post, we'll share essential maintenance tips to keep your used car in top condition, ensuring many more miles of enjoyable driving.

  1. Regular Fluid Checks and Changes: Fluids such as engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and brake fluid play crucial roles in your car's operation. Regularly check their levels and quality, and follow the manufacturer's recommendations for scheduled changes. Fresh fluids help lubricate vital components, prevent overheating, and maintain optimal performance.

  2. Routine Inspections and Tune-ups: Scheduling regular inspections and tune-ups with a qualified mechanic is vital for identifying and addressing potential issues before they become major problems. They can check the engine, brakes, suspension, and other key systems, making necessary adjustments and replacements as needed.

  3. Tire Maintenance: Proper tire maintenance not only ensures optimal performance but also enhances safety. Regularly check tire pressure, rotate tires as recommended, and inspect for wear and damage. Maintaining the correct tire pressure and alignment will improve fuel efficiency and extend tire life.

  4. Battery Care: The battery is the heart of your vehicle's electrical system. Clean battery terminals regularly to prevent corrosion, ensure proper connections, and extend battery life. If your battery is old or showing signs of weakness, consider replacing it to avoid unexpected breakdowns.

  5. Keep Up with Scheduled Maintenance: Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. Adhering to these guidelines, such as replacing filters, timing belts, and spark plugs at designated intervals, will help your car run smoothly and avoid potential issues.

  6. Pay Attention to Warning Signs: Don't ignore warning signs such as strange noises, unusual vibrations, or dashboard warning lights. These can be indications of underlying problems that require immediate attention. Promptly addressing issues can prevent further damage and save you from costly repairs.

  7. Practice Safe Driving Habits: Your driving habits can impact your vehicle's longevity. Avoid aggressive driving, sudden braking, and rapid acceleration, as these can strain the engine, brakes, and other components. Smooth, gradual acceleration and gentle braking reduce wear and tear on your car.

  8. Maintain a Clean Interior and Exterior: Regularly clean your car's interior and exterior to preserve its appearance and prevent damage. Regular washing, waxing, and vacuuming help protect the paint, upholstery, and carpet. Additionally, keeping the interior tidy minimizes the risk of damage from spills or debris.

  9. Replace Worn-out Parts: As your vehicle ages, certain components may wear out and need replacement. Stay proactive by replacing worn-out parts, such as brake pads, wiper blades, and lights, as soon as they show signs of deterioration. This ensures optimal performance and safety.

  10. Keep Detailed Service Records: Maintain a comprehensive record of all maintenance and repairs performed on your used car. This documentation helps track your vehicle's history, aids in diagnosing problems, and enhances resale value when the time comes to upgrade.

Conclusion: Regular maintenance is the key to keeping your used car running smoothly and reliably for years to come. By following these essential tips, you'll be able to prevent potential issues, extend your vehicle's lifespan, and enjoy worry-free driving. Remember, a well-maintained car not only saves you money in the long run but also provides a safer and more enjoyable driving experience.

Cars Get Cold Too

How To Check Your Antifreeze

It may not cross most people's minds, but checking your car's antifreeze protection level is an important part of regular maintenance. Anti-freeze helps protect your car from damage caused by cold weather, and keeping it at the proper level could save you from costly repairs down the road. In this article, we will show you how to check your car's antifreeze protection level and what to do if it needs to be adjusted.

What You Need

Before you begin, there are a few items you need for the job:

  • An anti-freeze tester: These are usually sold for just a few dollars at any auto parts store.

  • Paper towel or rag: This will help keep the anti-freeze off of surfaces like paint that could get damaged.

  • Ziplock bag: This will help keep dirt out of your anti-freeze tester while you’re not using it.

Step 1: Locate The Reservoir

The first step is to locate the reservoir where your car’s anti-freeze is stored. This is usually in the engine compartment, and it looks like a plastic container with a lid on top (as seen in Figure 1). There should also be a warning label telling you not to open the lid while the fluid is hot – so always make sure that your car has been sitting idle for at least two hours before proceeding!

Step 2: Testing The Anti-Freeze

Now that you have located the reservoir, insert the end of your tester into the fluid (you may have to use a straw attached to the bottom of the tester). Then pump up and down until about half of the fluid has been drawn up into the glass chamber on top (Figure 2). Now look at how many “balls” are floating on top of the fluid; this number tells you how well protected your car is against extreme cold temperatures (see Table 1 below). Once done testing, pour any remaining liquid into its original container, then wipe off any residue with paper towel or rag.

Step 3: Storing The Tester

After testing, take a ziplock bag and store your anti-freeze tester in it until its next use. This will help keep dust and dirt off of it when it’s not in use! And don't forget - always remember that antifreeze is poisonous so make sure none gets on any surfaces outside of its original container!

Checking your car's antifreeze protection level doesn't have to be difficult or complicated; with these simple steps anyone can do it themselves! With regular testing every few months, you'll know exactly how well protected against extreme cold temperatures your vehicle really is - potentially saving yourself hundreds or thousands of dollars in repairs down the line!
